One Step Closer to a Higher Stearate Soybean Oil - U.S. Soy
Researchers utilized a new variation on the TILLING technique, TILLING by target capture sequencing, to map mutations in the complex soybean genome. This technique identified mutations in the GmSACPD genes that lead to stearic acid accumulation in the seed. Mutations in only one of the five genes identified seem to interfere with nitrogen fixing nodules; mutations in three other genes increased stearic acid in the seed, without affecting nodulation.
